Joe Cece: Cycling Past Cancer

We recently sat down with CycleBar North Hills and Cary owner Joe Cece on how he beat prostate cancer.

“I went to see an internist due to blood in my urine. I then was referred to a urologist for assessment. While determining that the cause was a fairly large kidney stone, he also did a physical prostate exam. Despite the fact that my Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) was below average, he detected nodes in the gland. Subsequent, the biopsy proved positive and I opted for a prostatectomy over radiation. Fortunately,  it had not spread beyond prostate.”

Joe is very grateful to have his full health today, and he offers advice for other men:

“My lessons: PSA levels can be unreliable as a marker, and I would recommend having a urologist perform the prostate exam.”

You can meet Joe on February 22 at his North Hills studio, as we host a free training ride, presented by iHeart Media. Click here for more details. If you are unable to attend, ride with Joe on May 18 as we aim to declare Victory Over Cancer®.
