Experience the Victory Ride!

The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano with one goal in mind: to accelerate Victory Over Cancer® and save lives by funding game-changing research and all-star scientists. Since its formation in 1993, the V Foundation has awarded more than $310 million in cancer research grants nationwide and is a premier supporter of cutting-edge cancer research.

Thanks to an endowment funded by generous donors, 100% of rider-raised funds benefit cancer research and programs. This means not one single cent of your donation goes to operating expenses. Period.

The Victory Ride to Cure Cancer presented by CBS 17 benefits Duke Cancer Institute, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as research centers nationwide. Our Scientific Advisory Committee selects grant recipients through a highly competitive process. To learn more about our grants, visit v.org/research-overview.

The money you raise will:

  • Help scientists develop better screening tools to aid prevention and detect cancer earlier.
  • Lead to more targeted therapies that zero in on the disease with gentler side effects.
  • Give the precious gift of more time to patients and their families.
